Summary: As Cyril's execution date draws nearer, Ryan has some questions for Mukada
A/N: If you are unfamiliar with the series, it'll help to know that sometime before coming to Oz, Cyril had an accident that left him brain-damaged with the mind of a child.
“Father, do you believe that we go to Heaven when we die?” Ryan asked.
“I'm not the One who judges the living and the dead. If you're asking me if I believe that there is something beyond this life that's better than what is on earth, then I do,” Ray said.
“And if someone dies in a car accident or something, they aren't going to wind up in- wherever they wind up with scars and bruises and shit, they're going to look like they did before.”
“We believe the soul is restored to its true form.”
Ryan nods and gets up to leave the office.
“Ryan, was there a reason that you asked?”
“I just wanted to know that when all of this is over that Cyril is going to be normal again. That's gotta count for something, right?”
“I suppose, but there's still a chance that the State...”
“No, Father, there's not, and that's okay. He'll be free this way.” With that, Ray watched the door close between them as Ryan left the office.
