The note said to go to hotel room #3, but then I hesitated to knock on the door because Seth was standing behind me mumbling a little too close to my ear making it difficult to distinguish from him and the occupants.
"Knock already," Seth whispered aggressively, clearly getting impatient with this after dinner detour to Hill House.
Jessica took a steadying breath before knocking, waiting a moment for the door to open.

"Same question," Seth stumbled, taken aback by the source.
Opening the door a little further to let them in, the man shut the door, locked it and propped a chair underneath the handle. "The abandoned properties, I think they’re connected to organised crime and I’ve got in too deep," Amos finally admitted to his friends.
"You drew that map in my fortune cookie knowing that I’d be intrigued and begin to investigate, unofficially, of course."
"Who wrote the note?"
"I did. I went out at first light, handing it to the waitress who would be working your table tonight with strict instructions to wait until you’d ask for the bill and to direct you here to Hill House," Amos answered, realising just how convoluted his efforts at subterfuge were.
"Well I can’t tell you what I found yet Amos, not yet."
"Why not?"
Seth perched at the corner of the bed, resigned to getting left out of the back and forth between the towns sheriff and most famous resident.
"I don’t have all of the pieces to the puzzle and I’m waiting for my sources to notify me of their findings."
